Sharjah Media Corporation seeks wider popularity in Middle East
20 June 2010

Sharjah Television has announced that it will conduct opinion polls and surveys in the UAE and the Arab world in order to design a wide range of new seasonal programmes that will serve the local and Arab society while enhancing the medias role in preserving the family foundation and its cohesion.

The move is in line with the vision and targets of the Sharjah Media Corporation (SMC), which were set by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

The announcement was made by Amna Khamis Al Nakhi, CEO of SMC and Managing Director of Sharjah Radio and TV, during the signing of a cooperation agreement with SAHARA Communications, the region's leading media consultancy and part of the SAHARA Group, under which SAHARA will provide the SMC with strategic public relations and media consultancy services.

The agreement was signed by Al Nakhi and Maryam Bashir Keblawi, General Manager for SAHARA Communications.

Under the agreement, SAHARA will manage the corporation's public relations, providing it with a wide spectrum of strategic media consultancy and public relations services in the UAE, Gulf Region and the Arab world with the aim of supporting and realizing its vision, Amina Al Nakhi said.

Underlining the importance of the agreement, Al Nakhi added: "The agreement comes in keeping with our strong belief in the need for communication with the audience by various available means to identify their needs, and to introduce the corporation, its goals and the programs aired through its TV channels and Radio stations."

The agreement is aimed at developing the cooperations performance so as to cater to the needs of the Arab and Muslim audience in compliance with social values and standards of the corporation, she added.

Al Nakhi referred to SAHARA Communications as a leading public relations consultancy firm with vast experience and professional cadres that qualify it to join hands with the SMC and support it in achieving its aspirations and targets.

According to Keblawi, the SMC has recently succeeded in attracting a large number of viewers within the UAE and the Arab world through a wide array of TV and Radio programmes presented within the ethical and social framework, adding a safe family touch to its multiple channels.

We seek, through this agreement, to help develop and support the Corporation through direct contact with local and Arab media outlets, to provide strategic media consultancy on its existing programs, as well as to conduct studies and surveys to help the SMC communicate with its Arab audience, Keblawi concluded.
